what's better
Purchased 2010 Desktop CPU Intel Core i7 920 2.67 GHz
Ram 8 GB
Radeon 5750 Graphic card

Or
Purchased 06/2015 Laptop CPU Intel Core i7-4710MQ CPU @ 2.50GHz
Ram 16 GB
Intel HD Graphics 4600
Geforce GTX 860M

I'm thinking maybe whenever my desktop dies.. i replace it or just stick with my laptop

Solution
The 4th generation i7-4710MQ should be more powerful than the 1st generation i7 920.

You can download and run Super Pi 1.9 WS to see for yourself which CPU has better processing performance. The programs basically calculates the last digital of Pi based on the position you select. Pi does not have a "final" digital if you have the time and the processing power you can write a program that would calculate Pi to one billion trillionth digit. The program calculates Pi up to the 32 millionth digit which can take several minutes. The program takes a couple / few minutes to scan your hardware before you can run the test.

The program only stresses one core, but both CPUs have 4 cores and hyper threading so...

so Desktop has better CPU?

but i did look at my task manager i'm using or running basically 3 or 4 Ram out of 8 GB on desktop
and same 3 to 3.5 out of 15 GB on laptop

desktops will almost always out preform a laptop an new desktop will kill a laptop in performance.. 8 vs 16 gigs of ram dosnt make a difference for much right now. at the moment the laptop might be slightly better for some games because its gpu is a bit more powerful

The program only stresses one core, but both CPUs have 4 cores and hyper threading so it is an apples to apples comparison. Whichever CPU finishes the calculation 1st is the more powerful one.
