Please help me! I bought not so long ago a custom PC, pre-built by owner on Craigslist only a few hours before this post. I turned it on for the 1st time and everything was okay. Just wanted to see what would happen if I were to restart it, and obviously it correctly restarted. Now I went on to try to install a whole bunch of Drivers from a CD (or DVD) that I believe came with the motherboard (was inside CD drive, and was same brand as the motherboard) since there was no network adapter for Ethernet, and when that finished I went to Windows Update and just clicked on "Restart Now." It did its thing and shut down, and as it tried to turn on by its self (all fans were running and all part were working) just literally 3 seconds later it just turned off. Then it tried turning on then 3 sec, off. And its stuck in this loop, so I have to remove the power cable to the PSU. Can't even get to Boot screen or see anything on the monitor. What did I do wrong, what can I do? How did this happen if it work just a few hours ago? Tried removing GPU, disconnecting CD drive and Hard drive. Switching RAM, trying with one RAM. Removing System and CPU fan. IDK HELP!

1tb Hard Drive
Gigabyte z97x SLI Motherboard
550 watt PSU
XFX Radeon R7 260X R7-260X-CDF4 2GB 128-Bit

I think its the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817702020.
Should I even attempt the "8 pin 2x4 and plugging in ONLY half of it into the CPU power" method now?
I shall see what i can get for the PSU

That is completely up to you and your choice, I have done some research and seen great results from it but that is where it gets technical. Take a look at this thread for further guidance.

Sorry another question I had is if me installing an incorrect driver or bad Windows update could be the cause?

Most likely what happened is when you installed drivers, they require and look for power for the new components, and when it comes down to it the cpu requires a amount of power combined with all other components that your psu can't supply. I would look into a new psu. If you used windows update then that's correct, just some motherboards and cpu are made to work with one another and the psu is inhibiting this process, this is just my opinion, not 100% sure.
