Hey all, replacing my graphics card with a new, more powerful model. Double checking its compatibility before I purchase it.
Current mobo: System Model - GA-78LMT-S2
Graphics card- EVGA GeForce GTX 970 04G-P4-3975-KR 4GB SSC
Thanks.
Your motherboard has a PCI-E 2.0 x16, which is compatible with your PCI-E 3.0 graphics card (backwards compatible). So yes, your graphics card will work fine.
The 2.0 version is older and has less memory bandwidth than the 3.0, so it's possible that your card could lose some performance; this most likely won't effect your performance though, as games haven't reached the bandwidth limit of the 2.0. You could possible see issues in the future (years), when programming gets more efficient (my own guess).

Yes, no worries on mobo/GPU, big thing might be your PSU, make sure you have at least a good 500 watt or better with at least 28 AMPs on the 12 volt rail
