i5 4440 vs 9590 for gaming?

Solution

i5-4440: you just need a decent H97 mobo [under 100 bucks] & a decent 550W PSU
FX-9590: you need a high end mobo [200 bucks or more], a better cooling [100 bucks] [that cpu is a heater] & a decent 700+W PSU [must]

* You can get i5-4440 or i5-6500 or wait for AMD ZEN cpu
Just don't touch the FX9xxx CPU's. It will cost a fortune to even attempt to get it running right. It needs high end motherboard (that supports 220w cpu's), high end cooling and AMD recommend a minimum of a 1000w PSU.

Also for most thing the i5 is going to be similar or better, if you need the extra threads of the FX9 then go i7

Or i5 4460 or E3-1231v3 or i5 4690K (or i7 4790K) or .. :)

H81 = two memory-slots.
B85, H87, H97 or whatever = four memory-slots, number of sata ports and usb and usb 3.0 change somewhat.
Z87 & Z97 = let you over-clock K-processors.

Price difference of H97 and Z97 are usually close to nothing.
