Solution
WD Green + RAID (of any type) = DO NOT DO THIS.

A WD Black will work for your needs. Continue to use the Green as static file storage.
I highly recommend a Western Digital Black for your data drive. They have the best long-term performance of any consumer grade HDD and come with a 5 year warranty.

WD green drives often have issues from their power saving features and are not known to be as reliable for data storage. Green drives are also just about the worst drive you could choose to use in a RAID group.
