Power supply for GTX 970 in Dell xps 8700

I've been looking forward to upgrading my Graphics card to the 970 for quite some time now, but I know i'll need something 500 watts or above for my power supply. I'm not quite sure the dimensions of my PSU slot so i have been putting the upgrade off for some time now. Does anybody have any experience or tips for what PSU might work.

That case will accept any standard ATX PSU. Nothing special about it.
I wouldn't go for any extra long models, but at 500W or so, there's nothing that won't fit.
