I have performed a reset of my sony vaio laptop to remove all personal files with a view to selling this machine.

After hours of resetting, it came up with a blue screen telling me that something had gone wrong, and that it needed to restart - which it would do itself......
Many many many restarts later and nothing has changed. It does not automatically repair itself as Microsoft would have me believe, and no matter what I press, I can't seem to get it into safe mode.
In fact I can't do anything at all with it!

My original operating system was Vista Home Premium, then upgraded to windows 7, then Windows 10 - I no longer have the Windows Vista disc.......I threw it away last week.......

Please can somebody help me to fix it myself ......as I might as well trash the machine as pay someone to fix it when I am selling it second hand at 4 years old!

Hi Glamdringfh

I can't enter the BIOS at all
I have tried pressing all F keys and nothing happens to even get me into safe mode
I will have to have a search around for a repair disk - I'm pretty sure I threw away the Vista disk last week as I thought it was so out of date that I wouldn't need it...... I don't know if my husband's vaio discs would work for my laptop?

Wow, not being able to get into the BIOS is quite severe.

You could try to load up your VAIO cd's to see if they will break the boot cycle, but I can't recommend you actually use them to re-install Windows as that will break EULA.

Honestly from the sounds of it you either need to buy a new Windows CD or (hopefully) find the system repair disks that came with the original laptop.

Another option if you are just looking to sell the laptop is to try installing a free LINUX operating system like Linux Mint. You could certainly try to burn the live CD and run it to see what happens: http://linuxmint.com/
