Can I use the same windows key on a new SSD (Same Computer)

My old HDD died on me but I still have the windows 7 instillation disc and product key. I just bought a new 256gb SSD and a 2tb hard drive to replace it and I was hoping I could just install windows 7 when I can borrow my buddy's optical drive. Will this work or is windows tied to the HDD in use?

Yes, you can use your old Windows Key to install Windows 7 on your new SSD without any problem.

Where people run into trouble with Windows Keys is when they change their motherboard. Windows Product Keys are tied to the motherboard of the system.
