Did faulty PSU damage my mobo or cpu? Black Screening after PSU replaced.

I built a new system in spring of 2014 (specs below) which worked perfectly until the HDD began failing recently. I replaced the HDD and performed a clean install of OS (Win 7 Pro 64). Soon after, black screening began when playing games (casual gamer), using google maps in 3D mode, etc. Screen goes black PC still running and has to be turned off by PSU switch. I read that the power supply (Corsair CX430M) used in the original build had a poor reputation so I replaced and upgraded to larger and better unit (EVGA Supernova 750 G2) including switching all PSU cables. It seemed this should take care of the problem.

The problem still persists. I've tried rechecking all cables, cleaning (wasn't very dirty), and ran a 20+ hour 4 pass memtest86, older and newest APU drivers, and watching temps with speedfan HW monitor. All seems to perform perfectly. The only improvement noticed so far is using AMD overdrive to bump the cpu up to the turbo (never used previously) of 4.3 GHZ. It seems to delay the black screening by a bit. I have no idea why that would effect the situation.

Is is possible the original failing PSU took out my HDD and then damaged my mobo or cpu to cause this problem? Is there anyway to know for certain before replacing more parts? I've been searching desperately for a software based solution since recent OS install, but after the new HDD and OS install I did some all day casual gaming sessions (Gnomoria) before the problem began. Now, the same game will run only a few minutes before black screening. It even once happened while Internet surfing for an extended period of time. Two things I've not tried are: BIOS updates (since I'm unfamiliar), and re-seating the CPU cooler. Neither were problems in the past so I've assumed so far both are unnecessary.

I've built several systems for myself in the last 15+ years but have never had to deal with such a problem. Any assistance would be appreciated. If the motherboard needs to be replaced, then any suggestions for the best fm2/fm2+ board would be appreciated as well. Thanks for your time.
