I am looking for a good HP all-in-one printer between $100 - $150, and capable of using generic ink cartridges. My HP Photosmart 5510 printer just died. I've had it almost 3-years and the black ink stop printing. I went on line and watched a couple of Youtube videos regarding this problem and found that this is a common problem and that the printer head might be clogged. I attempted to clean the heads as the tutorials suggested and after several sheets of papers later, the problem was not resolved. In inspecting the inside of the printer closer, I noticed ink had leaked to the bottom of the printer. I can only assume the printer is a goner and time for a new printer.

Why bother with HP printers? They aren't exactly good. And very likely your use of generic inks caused your failure, so stop using generic ink.

If you can save up a bit more, you can get a http://www.amazon.com/Epson-Expression-ET-2500-Wireless-Supertank/dp/B01122JHMG and never really worry about ink prices again. If not, http://www.amazon.com/Epson-Wireless-Printer-Scanner-C11CE78201/dp/B010UU5XSS/ref=sr_1_2?s=office-electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1445827245&sr=1-2&refinements=p_89%3AEpson%2Cp_36%3A8000-15000 is your best bet, it's fairly reliable and ink is cheap (~13)

Solution
I have a Canon MG5522. It is last years model, and there are newer models out now. I have been very happy with this thing. I can scan documents, copy and make copes, and it prints vibrant colors on regular office paper. When it came time to buy in, they wanted as much for the ink as the printer cost new, so I bought 3rd party ink at Amazon, and it has worked well for me too. The printer us USB or wireless, but I live in an high-rise apartment building with over 200 apartments here, so I disable everything wireless.

So if the new models are as good as mine, you would love yours.
