I just wanted to know if Asus Strix 970 GTX can fit into Cooler Master Elite 311 as I read it is a long card. I currently have a zotac 970 GTX (a perfect fit) but found it heating a little more during heavy gaming (crosses 80 degrees) albeit it cools down equal to Asus cards (Around 44 deg) after a while. Also there are some offers for Asus currently. Btw I am using DP67BA mobo.

Solution
Go to asus website and check for the card's dimensions. But if i were you i will keep that zotac 970. As long as the temp did not hit 90c it should be fine. Probably you just need to improve your air flow more?

Length is given as 28 cms (11'') on the site. The dimension given for cooler master for the space is 281mm. So I guess it should have a close fit. I do in fact like the zotac card. Previously had zotac 550 Ti and it worked without a sweat. I am not sure if I could add more fans into the case as I recently added a front intake fan which reduced the temperature of HDD. Haven't kept the side fan as my experience found that it created more problems (sucks in a lot of dust).

Does the case have slots for fan at the bottom? Since the case did not have ventilation on the top on the case. So all hot air need to be pushed by that single back fan. You could try using high CFM fan for it. Personally i don't like side intake as well for the same reason you state above. But you could try using the side in take as out take.

There are no fan slots at the bottom. The only option is to may be setup the side fan as exhaust as you stated. But will it not interfere with the current setup i.e. after fresh air enters from the front and hot air exits through back, some of the fresh air escapes sideways as well??
