I FORGOT THE PASSWORD ON MY WESTERN DIGITAL PASSWORD EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE AND I FORMATTED HOPING TO USE A PROGRAM AND RETRIEVE THE DATA..HOW EVER EVERY PROGRAM I HAVE USE IT FALLS ...CAN SOME ONE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEM AND CAN HELP ME..IT SEEMS THERE IS SOME KIND OF ENCRYPTION WHO DOCENT ALLOW ANY PROGRAM TO REACH THE DATA

You actually made it much worse now that you formatted the thing since you can't even get lucky and eventually remember or guess the right password, the data is fully gone now. Encryption scrambles the data, so any recovery software will just see a bunch of nonsense instead of files.

"Unfortunately, There is not an application or software that allow you to bypass the password of WD Smartware. Not WD have an way to retrieve your password.

You can regain access to your drive, but in order to do so, you will need to erase it; this will delete all data from the drive, and unfortunately this cannot be avoided.

Since you have the HDD, you can probably keep trying combinations of what you think it might be, but the point of encryption and password protection is to make sure someone can't just get some software to unlock and decrypt the information. Sorry and best of luck trying to remember the password!
