For the same capacity and specification (4T, 3.5" external desktop hard drives). Western Digital usualy sold at higher price than than Seagate. I asked the salesmen they couldn't spot me out the real difference and just said ''better

Do they really make a better quality hard drive that allows them selling at higher price? (approx. 10 bucks more)

A year or 2 ago I think it was a typhoon and flooding in Taiwan that affected Western Digital and hard drive prices increased. It could be that Western Digital prices haven't stabilized yet.

According to backBlaze Western Digital has lower failure rate than Seagate with HGST even a bit lower than Western Digital.

If one has a 5 year or 3 year warranty compared to a 1 year...I'd choose that one if the price wasn't too crazy. All things being equal I'd go Hitachi HGST then WD.

I can't say better quality. I've never had an issue with either company and I've seen both here at work. I have 2 Samsung SSDs and an external WD drive, but for the life of me I can't remember which HDDs I have at home. 10$ doesn't mean better, could be paying for the "brand" or a longer warranty. It could be a cost that has to be made up in the way the HDD is made compared to the methods Seagate uses. I wouldn't worry about a small difference in price between them. Honestly you'd be fine with either company and I'd probably lean towards which happens to be a little cheaper (Seagate I think you said).

I have had all kinds of drives in my time on the pc from WD to Seagate to even Maxtor drives In 20 years I have had 4 failures 3 of them where WD 1 WAS A Toshiba drive.... So I tend to stick to Seagate but I still have bought WD as well for peoples build.

On sdd I have had no failures yet owned Samsung Kingston intel muskin and OCZ

How long your HDD can survive is like a lottery draw...although...
according to my experience, purely based on statistic, Seagate HDDs failed more often or have shorter live than WD, IBM/Hitachi/HGST, Toshiba, etc.
There are reports like from BackBlaze about HDD failures rates, those are highly not reliable but resemble somehow my experience so far.
