I was playing a game then when I alt tabbed my screen went black and froze. When I restarted the pc the windows loading screen had vertical lines that kind of looked like scratches and when it loaded up the screen went completely blue. I'm guessing that my video card broke. And if so I need some help finding a good video card that costs around 200$

It may sound silly but I would shut the computer down, turn the monitors off, and unplug them from the computer. Let it sit and count to your lucky number, then hook everything back up and power it all back on again. Any change at all? The lines very well could be the GPU, but by shutting it down for a little you can let things cool off inside in case there was an over heating issue and you tried to get right back to things before it finished cooling down.

Before you look at a new GPU, make sure to post what your current card is and how long you've had it, as well as your monitor/s.

I let the pc sit for a good 24 hours unplugged. When I turned it on the lines are still showing and right after comes the blue screen. My cpu is intel core i7 2600k 3.40ghz. And the current gpu is the Radeon HD 6850. And I haven't changed anything since I got the computer, so I would say around 4 to 5 years

That's pretty close to the age of my Radeon that I recently replaced, so it very well could be that the GPU is starting to bite the dust. Do you have an onboard vga port or something you could try using and removing your GPU? At this point and with the age of that card and my own similar experience, I would say if you can look at a new card, by all means do. Are there games in particular you enjoy playing? Based on the card I would say you aren't looking to do brand new games on Ultra settings. You don't need to spend 300$ on a new card like I did, but if you need a recommendation on a card knowing what you like to do helps.

I don't really know how to remove the gpu and don't have the vga port. So what video card should I look for that costs no more than 200 but can run games like ARK on high/ultra settings
