Would this motherboard work better? ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 AM3+ AMD 990FX + SB950 8 x SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS Also, I have never installed a new motherboard. This is my first time putting a computer together. My friend built me a low-budget gamer a few years back and I wanted to upgrade it. Is it just plug in and turn on the machine or what?

Yes, but you could get away with the Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P for cheaper. It will run and overclock that 8-core chip just fine. The 990's are better, but they're a lot more pricey.

Changing a motherboard usually requires a full Windows re-installation because much of the hardware devices in Windows will have changed and it'll probably blue-screen on startup.

Ok, I am going to review the Gigabyte board. My psu has a 4 pin connector at the end and a 8 pin connector in the middle of the lead that goes to power the cpu. Is this the only lead that can be used yo power the cpu? Also, i am using Win 7 ultimate. I only play wow. Would it be a good idea to upgrade to Win 10 and would i be able to use my 32 gbs of ram?

What the heck do you need 32 GB of RAM for?

Windows 10 should run fine. Think it has an 8 pin connector for the CPU power.

One time use unless you buy an enterprise license. You should be able to upgrade your existing W7 key though.

Choice is up to you - I like Windows 10 and it is faster, but it's not a huge mind-blowing difference. I still use 7 at work and love it.

Use the Windows 10 media creation tool. Run from your existing MB, burn to DVD/jump drive, install new components, boot from DVD/USB, install fresh Windows 10 instance.

Yeah, you could probably still use your Windows 7 key for a Windows 7 installation if you haven't activated in the last 6 months.

I choose the Asus 990fx board. I installed it successfully and my current version of win7 ultimate booted and is up and running. The 8350 is now showing 4.3 ghz instead of 2.0 ghz. I think that is a substanial performance gain. The only issue I have noticed is I have 32 gbs of Gskill ram. It is 1866 and is being run at 1333. Is there a way to set it ip to run the correct speed? Also, I really dont understand how to set up a bios for gaming. Are there any performance gains from enabling or disabling settings?

Alright, I ended up setting the OC tuner to DOCP and the OC profile to custom 1866. I ended up getting 933 on the memory tab in CPU-z. I didn't know that had to be multiplied by two to get 1866, so it worked out. Thanks for the help everyone!
