Hello, I'm working on my roommate's desktop PC that is only reading half its RAM. I just upgraded it from Windows XP to Windows 7 Ultimate (32-bit), and it had the same issue on both OS's. The BIOS only shows half the RAM, and CPUz only shows half as well. There are 2 1 GB DDR2 SDRAM sticks, and if I put either one into the MB by itself, only half of that stick shows up in the system. I've tried different slots to no avail. I've also checked the settings for speed, voltage, and cas latency to make sure they match the RAM's specifications.
The motherboard is an ECS nForce4M-A V3.0. I've tried resetting the CMOS with the jumper on the MB and that didn't work either. I want to try flashing the BIOS to the newest version, but when I try to run the application downloaded from the manufacturer's website, it gives me an error that the BIOS on the MB is not the award BIOS and terminates.
It's got an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4600+ 2.40 GHz.
