I have a router downstairs and need a wired connection to my ps4 but due to the placement of the router i cannot send a wire up there, there is another access point in the room (what the router plugs into) and i would like to know how to use it if i can, any information would be appreciated

Update: realized access point means something other than what i believed it to mean, I meant it as the port you plug your router into (sorry for my lack of knowledge on the subject)

i don't think you can run multiple modems like this. the modem is the part that filters the internet signal from the overall signal in the line. most likely you have cable, internet and phone all running on that line into the house. the router part is what then splits up the internet signal and outputs it to the wifi and wired ports on the back of it.

what you want to do is use a second modem/router upstairs to be able to wire your ps4. i don't believe that you can do this, but the one to ask is whomever supplies your internet. i have never seen it done and i'm pretty sure there would not be all the hardware available to boost signals and extend coverage and all that sort if all you needed was a second modem.

i'd look into the hard...

i'd look into the hard line adapters such as this one recently reviewed here http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/linksys-plek-500-powerline-networking-adapter,4322.html

this will let you get a wired connection upstairs from downstairs and it will be pretty stable for your gaming needs.
