I just got a Dell Inspiron 15 i3541 3000 as a gift. Interested in using a Mac for programming but too broke to get one and I don't like selling gifts. Should I dual boot it with mac OS x or install Mac OS X in an external SSD and boot from there?

Solution
We don't tolerate piracy on these forums. Installing OS X on a non-Apple computer breaks the EULA. The EULA is governed by contract law; therefore it's illegal to install OS X on a non-Apple computer. I'm sorry you're broke, but you can try to use OpenDarwin or PureDarwin as alternatives -- they're very, very similar to OS X but lack Quartz and Aqua and thus require another window manager and service (e.g., X11 and XFCE).

Oh. I wont be pirating anything. I can buy the OS x not the Macbook. Sorry for the confusion.

You can't buy it. There is no legal way for you to obtain a copy of OS X and, as said, we're not about to help you pirate software.

Sorry, but if you can't afford a Mac then you can't use the Mac operating system. If you need it that badly (you probably don't) then you'll have to save up for a Mac.
