one gpu vs two gpu's that add up to the single gpu price

Hope you get what I'm saying should I go for the single gpu or go will the 2 gpu's if they better that getting the single 1
High -ultra
GTX 970 4GB ×1
OR
GTX950 2GB x2
OR
GTX 750 TI 4GB x2

Meduum-high
Gtx 960 4GB ×1
OR
GTX750  2GB ×2

Entry level
GTX 950 2GB ×1
OR
GTX 750 1GB ×2

In all of those scenarios, I'd go for the single GPU as you will be getting more VRAM, less likely to encounter stability issues and the performances of the GTX 950/960/970 are more than adequate for gaming for example
