Hi there,

My PSU is a CS550M and Im trying to connect up a Sapphire tri-x oc r9 290.

The PSU came with a PCI-E cable that has: one 8 pin (labelled 'type 3') and two 6+2 pin (labelled PCI-e) connectors on it.

The back of the power supply has two outputs that are labelled as PCI-e - do I use both (i.e. two cables) or one?

summary -

use one cable with 2 connectors or 2 cables?

which connector plugs into which hole?

Thanks!

Solution
Only one port is labelled as 6+2 pcie/ 4+4 cpu. The eight pin with "type 3" goes into that port on the psu. The two 6+2 pins plugs on that cable is for the graphic card.

Hi Suztera,

What is the 6 hole slot above the 8-pin-type-3-port used for? Its not labelled. I figured the labelling below the two slots indicated what the top and bottom were used for and so I was trying to plug the cable into the top one.
Also, the type 3 cable has a pin missing - is this supposed to be the case? Thanks

It's for peripherals/SATA cables.
The cables provided should be fine to use.
