old hardware, even older OS. but i'm feeling nostalgic, so can the below hardware run a fresh clean install of Win98SE? no idea what programs i'll run other than some old version of office, but i'm mostly asking about the OS, drivers, etc. i WILL install a bunch of offline updates, including the unofficial service pack 3.45 from MajorGeeks.com

Win98SE

Athlon XP 2400+ (single core, Socket A, circa 2002)
ECS L7VMM2 motherboard
2x256M DDR ram
(these three "core" parts already worked fine under WinXP, they're being reclaimed as a "set" for use with Win98SE)

i've got an available AGP slot, so i'll find some old graphics card on eBay for it as well, later on. all going onto a 40G IDE hard drive.

sounds promising so far, then! i've never actually used Win98SE, the closest was 98Lite which was a hack that removed IE from it. don't recall what i used before that, if i ever had 95 or what. but i do recall buying Win2k over WinME at the store 15 years ago cuz 2k looked more "professional" and proper. cost me $140 back then, haven't regretted it at all since then!

now all i need is a nice case...

Win ME was the first MS OS I saw that was cracked with a keygen built in so you didn't have to even type a key because it automatically put one in for you. That was about the only way it was worth using.. (Not advocating piracy just remembering when I was a teen, I get all my OS's Legal-ish now. OEM!!)
