To save a bit more money, you could go with an i7 6700 because with an MSI or ASRock motherboard you can overclock normally

You can't overclock with a locked processor. So if you want to save money, either you sacrifice overclocking or you sacrifice something else. And that's not going to save a lot of money anyways.

You could go skylake, use msi or asrock, and still overclock a locked processor.
