I currently have a decent, mid-ranged computer, with these specs:
FX 6300
Gigabyte R9 280x
8gb ddr3 memory
Ga-78lmt-usb3 motherboard
Seasonic S12ii 620w PSU
I am looking to upgrade some of the parts in my PC and I have a $500 (give or take) budget. I am going back-and-forth between two upgrades: A used 780ti and an i5 6600k (w/ motherboard ofc), and a water-cooled 980.
Which of these would be the best bang-for-my-buck for 1080p gaming? I would like to not have to upgrade for a while and keep a constant 60fps (high-ultra) in modern games.
Alternative upgrades would also be appreciated.

Thanks for your time.

Go for the 6600k and 780 ti. I know the cpu isn't used that much in modern games, but I wouldn't put a 980 in with a 6300. The 780 ti is still great and will hold you up for the next 3-4 years for 1080p gaming

Thanks! I was a little bit worried about getting the 780ti because I heard that Nvidia wasn't really paying attention to it at all in driver updates.
