Hey guys/gals I have a pair of Audio-technica ATH-ADG1 (3.5mm). About $230, they sound great and are very useful in games such as cs:s, cs:go. (any game that really requires every single sound detail).

QUESTION: Will a sound card help me at all in enhancing any part of gaming? or is it just a waste of money? I am looking as Asus Xonar DSX ($50), from what I have gathered sound cards have not really made leaps and bounds in the past few years as far as enhancing sound in music, games, movies, ect. Any input would be great, also I'm not looking to spend $150+ on a sound card.

You absolutely will get a better sound experience from a dedicated sound card. With a good quailty pair of headphones (like the Audio-technica ATH-ADG1) you should notice a much richer spectrum.

The Xonar DSX is a very good place to start, I have that exact card in one of my rigs and it has worked wonderfully well. Unless you are moving into the recording side of music you don't really need to spend more on a audio card than around $50-70.
