a few questions about nvidia gpu's

i am looking into getting a gpu for gaming it will be fairly intense and was wanting to know how different gpu's compare. im looking at the gtx 970 strix so could any one name a few gpu's that are similar prices (under £300) and ones that are of similar performance and what's the gtx 970 like compared to the 780? any suggestions will be amazing thankyou for your time :D

*When comparing GPU's you should use a benchmark like this which AVERAGES about twenty different games.

Stock vs stock the GTX970 is 11% faster (at 2560x1440) however it will overclock noticeably higher. The architecture is also slightly more future, and finally it has MFAA which when used for supported games can make a further difference.

So the performance difference will vary from almost NOTHING in some games to over 30% in others.

Other:
- other features
- zero fan noise for supported cards (in light usage)
