Sure all you need are headphones. You can plug into the motherboard sound and it'll work. Later on you can upgrade and get a headphone amp/dac if desired.

Go to the store and look at over ear headphones. If you can find a pair with removable cable that's what I'd get. Brands I'd look at are AKG, Shure, Grado, Seiheisser. If you can't find those Technics, Panasonic, Sony, arn't bad. At $100 there won't be much difference in quality between them. If you were spending $200+ you could start to get more picky. Look for a pair that is low impedance. Under 100 ohms. 600ohms headphones will be harder to push with your motherboard sound.

Personally I'm using AKG k240 MKII. Comes with 2 cables and vinyl and velvet cushions. They...

Well you have a YETI so one of the best microphones is in your hands. Now forget headsets. A headset by definition has a built in microphone. What you want are headphones.

I'd recommend a regular pair of stereo headphones. If you have a music store near you like Guitarcenter, etc... check them out. A nice pair of AKG, Seiheisser, Sony, etc.... There are many good brands of PA/DJ/Studio headphones. Any many under $100 so depending on your budget you can find something.

Depending on your motherboard or soundcard will determine the quality of audio. You can also get an external USB DAC. USB to the computer to be detected like a sound card, then a DAC (digital to analogue converter) to do the sound. It will have a built in headphone amplifier to give you top sound.

https://emotiva.com/products/dacs/dacs/little-ego This is your basic DAC that will give you good sound and a good headphone amp. It's all uphill from here and you can get into pro stuff. Some motherboards also come with headphone amps onboard. Either way this will give you sound the will rival any USB gaming headset on the market.

Just a quick primer on headphones in case you go shopping. You have in ear and over ear headphones. Over ear are the big ones and they are the most comfortable for hours of gameplay.

With over ear headphones you can get leather/vinyl or velvet ear cushions. If you see a pair that comes with both note that the velvet is very comfortable. Also there are 2 styles. Open back or closed back. Open back gives better bass and sound. But people in the room will head more noise comming from your headphones. Closed back is more silent to others and the most popular.

Some people choose open back since it's easier to hear someone if they are yelling at you because your wearing headphones :) They also feel that open back gives the best sound quality, even though good closed back headphones are amazing. Others choose closed back since with open back their wife is always telling them to turn down their music since they can hear the headphones blasting.

Another tip is to choose a pair with a removable cable. If the cable ever breaks, which it will eventually, just buy a new one and plug it in. These types of headphones will last forever. A good manufacturer like Seinheisser, AKG, Shure, Grado, etc... will allow you to buy replacement cables, cushions, etc... and your headphones will last for many many years. Possibly for life.

Check an audio store for the brands listed and stay away from the Skull Candy/Beats stuff. You want good check the brands above. Sony also make top headphones although very expensive. Some well over $2000.
