eBay computer parts scam?

I brought a processor a while ago as mentioned in my previous posts, despite its weirdly long expected delivery date it seem all fine (the guy had good reviews from people buying the same product in the past year) the price was £160 almost exactly the recommended consumer price on intels website. At first I was not worried about the delivery as I needed time to save up for the GPU anyway. Fast forward almost a week after the expected delivery it still isn't here. On the day it was supposed to arrive I was not there to sign for it but no note was left to say the delivery failed... What should I do? I've contacted the seller with no success, so far... Should I check the depot to see if it is there?

Open an eBay case and demand a refund.

In the future avoid buying new computer hardware on eBay because you don't get any kind of warranty. Almost all the sellers there aren't qualified resellers so most manufacturers won't accept an RMA. eBay is for used stuff, closeouts and other things where you save enough money that the lack of warranty isn't an issue. Don't buy new stuff at close to MSRP on eBay. You get no warranty and you run the risk that it's a scam or the item is stolen.

This is mostly untrue. I have bought brand new items from shops on ebay with warranty. I have also bought plenty of used parts at huge discounts with no issues.

Sure there may be scammers, but there protection for that.

eBay has a 100% money back guarantee. I don't care if it is a scam because I'll get my money back, its the time wasted I'm annoyed about. Also new computer parts have manufacturer warranty, its rare that a private seller from anywhere will offer warranty with a new product.

No I wasn't given a tracking number as it was standard delivery. Ebays money back guarantee only lasts for 30 days and you have to wait 8 days after contacting the seller. That will give me 2 days to take it up with eBay. It just seems really weird that he has sold over 10+ of the same product all with good reviews from legitimate accounts in the last 6 months and mine hasn't come. If he wanted to scam people I doubt he would go as far as to be a legitimate seller for 2 years just to scam one person off £160. What do you think?

Any seller that sells a £160 item & posts out standard delivery with no tracking or insurance is a complete dimwit in my book.
As said you'll get your money back no problem - If I was selling myself I'd be sending special delivery & making sure the charges were either included in the price or added to the total - I wouldn't even offer anbu tracked delivery option on anything above £30 or so.

Agree with Madmatt. I bought a used audio mixer from a seller on ebay a while back. Waited for about 3 weeks for it to arrive. When I contacted the seller and asked for a tracking number, he said he just sent it standard US Postal Service, lowest rate option, so no tracking info. He said he would refund my money. I gave it a few more days and it finally showed up at the post office. The box he used was all beat up, but luckily the mixer itself was not damaged.

Now I could have just accepted his refund, but instead I contacted him and told him the mixer had finally arrived, and offered him a sound piece of advice: Never in the future sell something and ship it without tracking info (and hopefully insurance).

I don't really undertand why you'd buy an item from eBay that's readily available from an etailor at a similar price.

EBay for me is just for bargains or hard to find items.

Sellers are notorious for stating they're UK based & then when you dig deeper they're commonly from old hong Kong (schezuan republic).

& while I'm not stating in anyway they're not legitimate sellers (I've had many a cheap phone/tablet case & other minor electronics from them at vastly reduced prices compared to locally even when delivered over 3000 miles by air)
Sometimes delivery problems arise & its out of everyone's hands.
You'll always be protected as a seller so long as you follow eBay guidelines & nip it in the bud quickly but its a hassle that could be entirely avoided.

Very true, as you said I'm not looking to be a dick about it and I wont leave him bad ratings for this mix up. I just don't want to loose my money.

The price was the us price converted to pounds. So that excludes import charges making it quite a good deal. He probably brought a bunch of them and somehow avoided customs and is selling from Europe/most probably china. I understand it is dumb to buy stuff from eBay that looks a little sketchy, but it was never the delivery date I was worried about, I don't give a shit if it is really coming from china. I just don't want to get scammed. All I can hope is that it comes in the next few days and I wont need eBay to intervene because I really don't want all this hassle. Probably should have spent the extra £20 and got it 2 weeks ago hassle free.
