I'm thinking of buying a 256GB SSD and was wondering could i migrate my Windows installation and files from my current HDD to my SSD without having to buy a new windows key?

And could I have some Steam games on my SSD and some on my HDD I have been wondering this because of directories

Thanks in advance for your time, effort and knowledge

As long as you don't have more data than what the SSD can store you can clone it over no issue. If it is bigger than 256GB of data i would go in and uninstall all your steam games, then once you have enough space clone it over and then use the old hard drive as game storage only.

Thanks but that's defeating the purpose of the SSD for me for example I was hoping to put Battlefield 4 and CS:GO along with my OS onto the SSD whilst i just dump the rest of my games and programs onto the 1TB HDD

You can do that as well! The great thing with steam is when you install games it list all your drives and you can install it to what ever drive you want. I only have a 240GB SSD in my Gaming PC. Nothing else. I just install the game I'm playing and once i'm done i just delete it.
