I'm sorry if this is a repeated topic but I am unable to find a solution despite googling relentlessly (Unless I'm simply searching for the wrong thing).

I've had this computer years running Windows 7 with no problems at all, never once crashed, recently upgraded to Windows 10 and it began happening randomly, I cannot seem to find the trigger, I've run burn software, memory tests, drive scanners I've verified the integrity of Windows, I've looked through the event logs and can't make anything of it.

After a long series of testing I decided to reset Windows (keep files) and the problem stopped for a few days, being weary I didn't install any new software and I took it easy but out the blue while watching a video it happened again, rebooted and happened again and it began the chain once again so I reset Windows and wiped my SSD, once again it stopped for around a week then once again out the blue it started again.

Googling leads me to find that it is a CPU error involving power, I've never attempted to OC and my system ran fine, heavy gaming for years.

As stated this happened a while after upgrading to Windows 10, I doubt this is a cause but it might be worth noting.

Before I run out and buy new hardware with money I don't really have does anybody have any ideas on fixing this problem? any tests that I can run that can shed more light on the problem? and more importantly anything I could do to help prevent the problem if any more information is needed just let me know and I'll reply as soon as I can, thanks in advance.

Specifications:
CPU - AMD 8320 3.5ghz
GPU - GTX 970 4GB
Memory - 16GB
MB - GIGABYTE 990FXA-UD3
OS - Windows 10
1 HHD - 1TB
1 SSD - 128GB

Thanks for the reply, I believe this is a CPU error so I doubt it is driver related, besides I don't know how I would go about reinstalling Windows 7 since it was an OEM copy.

Have you had windows 10 installed for over a month?
http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/how-to/windows/how-downgrade-windows-10-to-windows-7-8-easy-3615606/

Anyway, re-installing win7 will rule out software, so then you can focus on hardware, as I'm guessing it could be any combination of PSU, MBO or CPU if it is indeed hardware related.

Thanks for the reply, sadly I've had Windows 10 for more than a month so that kind of rules out that idea but thank you for the suggestion.

Are there any tests I can do to narrow down the problem more? maybe Windows 10 introduced new hardware protection that is causing my CPU to give off a false positive when it reaches a certain temp/core usage? Any programs I could run in the background to monitor CPU activity and log when it occurs again? perhaps power monitoring software?

It has not happened since starting this thread but I have been taking it easy, little to no gaming, no servers, no VMs.

Excuse my ignorance but I have never downloaded a MB driver before, I didn't even know Processor drivers were a thing, how would I go about doing it? I went to my brands webpage and looked up my MB but there doesn't seem to be any support for Windows 10.

I failed to mention in the OP that I also tried resetting my BIOS but this has not fixed the problem.
