Fast youtube, slow games

Hello everyone,

This is my problem: in game lag. I can, for example, watch HD youtube videos with no problems, but when I try to play games like BF4, WoW, or DOTA 2 I get a bunch of nasty, choppy lag.

I turned off Windows Firewall so that shouldn't be causing any issues. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to fix my in game lag problem?

Like the others have said, running YouTube videos is nothing. What are your actual computer specifications, to understand why you are unable to run your games at a speed that is favorable?

GPU: GTX 980ti
Processor: i5-4690k (right now at 3.5 GHz)
I've got 2 sticks of 4GB DDR3 ram (so a total of 8gb ram)
750W Corsair power supply
Hitachi 1tb hard drive
For my network connection I'm using an ASUS PCE-N53 300Mbps 11n Dual band wireless PCI-E card

One of the only things I could think of at the moment would be to check if you have any window's updates you have not installed yet, or check if you have the latest drivers for your hardware.
