Red squares on screen but not the monitor

My computer has red squares and wont do anything unless i restart it. I recently got a gtx 980 and installed it, a week or so after is when these issues started. Any clues to what it is?

Update. If the nvida drivers are uninstalled then the display acts normal but then i can play any games so is it possibly a hardware issue that happens only when its drivers are installed causing this?

well it looks like an hardware issue but lets be sure -
1. try to connect you display to other port in the GTX 980 card.
2. check that the temperature are fine and not rising over the normal range (with the driver if possible and without)
3. install the latest Nvidia driver.
4. try different PCI-E port on your motherboard if there is one.
5. If issue still occurs than check the GTX 980 on other PC.

Is that card second handed?
