I am a NOVICE in the computer arena. I have an external hard drive and my first issue is to clean out my System Volume Information folder. There are some folders of my personal stuff, from dreams to some church stuff. I have tried to delete them for they already have thier own folder in another place. It won't let me delete anything in the VIF folder. Enlighten/ direct me in what to do. Thank you

Hey there, Nicole. :)

The System Volume Information folder is used for system restore. It holds previous system restore points, which means that in case something unexpected happens because of installed software, update, corrupted data etc, you can restore your OS to a previous state, before the error happened. You can disable it completely (which is not really recommended) or change the size that it takes up on your hard drive. Here's how to do that: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ie/windows/turn-system-restore-on-off#1TC=windows-7. The link also contains a video with info on System Restore.

edit: Sorry, I didn't know there was already an answer.

Hope that helps.
