Hello,
I have no idea what to do at this point. I have a Z87-Plus Motherboard running BIOS version 2103 and I'm trying to upgrade my processor from my i5 4670k to i7 4790k.

I've done all the BIOS flashbacks on most of the versions, I've installed the Intel Engine. I've updated it from windows, factory restored settings, nothing works.

I need help desperately.

Where can I find that switch? I did the whole 'take out the battery for 5 minutes and hold the power button'

You're trying to run a Haswell Refresh CPU on a Z87 (Haswell) MOBO. You prolly cannot do this without a BIOS update.

I was unable to find the Asus z87 Plus with Version 2103. They do list a "Z87 Plus" though.

The Asus CPU Compatibility List (LINK) says that you will need BIOS ver. 2003 IF you have the Z87 Plus MOBO. You will also need a donor Haswell CPU to install the new BIOS. After the new BIOS is installed, you should be able to reinstall your i7 4790K CPU and run it with out problems.

If you do in fact have the "Z87 Plus Version 2103
" You'll have to contact Asus about a BIOS for that MOBO.

I hadn't touched the bios until today, it was running 1701 which is its factory version. Version 2103 is the most updated version. I tried installing version 18-something but that did not work. I'll try to downgrade to the 2003 version and respond.

I flashbacked the bios to version 2003 and still no luck. CPU_LED light stays illuminated and there's no post. If anyone knows how I can factory restore my BIOS I can restart the whole process and just try to get version 2003 to work. I also installed the Intel Engine but read somewhere that that's a bad idea because it needs windows to run.

I'll probably get it exchanged. I don't understand why crazy defective shit happens to me.
