So I'm a bit torn currently between paying a little bit extra for the 5930k x99 series processor or just going for the 6700k for video editing(rendering, also 3D animation). To cut to the chase, would a 5930k OC'd at around 4.0ghz give me a considerable increase in performance while rendering/doing 3D animation in comparison to the 6700k OC'd at 4.6ghz? As it stands if I were to add the 5930k to my build it'd be roughly 150 dollars more which is fairly significant as I was already pretty tight on the budget. BUT, if it will be worth it, then I'd definitely be able to get the money together. I won't be building my pc until December so taking discounts into consideration is 100% fine if any of you know of Christmas based processor deals.

I'll also be using the pc for gaming @1440p but most benchmarks I've seen have shown the processor to be largely irrelevant.

^^ Buy the 5820k the only difference is STOC core speed and you get 28 PCI-E 3.0 Lanes on the 5820k and 40 on the 5930k (if you wish to SLI @ 16 x 16x)

Essentially your paying $180 more for +12 PCIe lanes and 100mhz higher boost speed - which is negelagable as you'll overclock the 5820k to 4.0 with air easy, higher with a h100i - silicon lottery dependant of course.

edit: use the $180 to buy more RAM to 16GB from 8GB and also upgrade the case to an R5 from the R4 (more features and better build) or even upgrade the motherboard for better overclocking stability. the 5930k is a waste of money matey.
