Hey,
this is my first post in this forum, as I am trying to fix a recent problem with my Pc turning off randomly. I have never posted on a hardware forum with any issue, because I was almost always able to fix my problems by troubleshooting everything I could think of and trying every solution I could find online. This problem has been weird though and I have no clue what causes this.
My hardware:
Motherboard : MSI B85-G43
GPU: PNY Gtx 960 2 Gb
CPU: i5 4690k 3,5 Ghz
RAM: 2x4Gb G.Skill 1333 Mhz
PSU : Tacens Radix V 650W
My problem:
I bought myself a new motherboard and a new cpu two weeks ago and this basically started my problem. I was using all of the above components on an older MSI board and an AMD 965 BE cpu for 4 years without any problem.
Yet since I've replaced the motherboard and cpu and reinstalled windows 10 I have been getting strange blue screens (irql_not_less_or_equal and system_exception errors) and sometimes just plain power offs randomly (under load when gaming and sometimes on desktop or while browsing). What is strange though is that the pc starts turning on and off repeatedly after one of those numerous crashes with a strange grinding noise I could not locate and might suddenly turn itself on successfully and boot into the system.
I had a lot of those crashes after I have replaced said parts. I tried some things like: checking all the plugs and cables, reseating ram and the gpu, checking the temps (they seem perfect), installing every driver possible, resetting the bios settings, taking the cmos battery out and putting it back in, trying a different psu.
None of these solutions really worked. It seemed to have decreased the frequency of those crashes and for 4 days it was running fine for hours. Had not have any crash in those 4 days. But then I took my pc to a friend's house and it all started again. (though still less frequent)
For the past week it became almost a routine. I would power the pc on after waking up and I could expect one crash (power down or some blue screen) in the first couple of minutes no matter what I was doing. I would then proceed to flip the psu switch, because it would basically get stuck in that power on and off loop. Once I turned it back on after all of that it was running fine until the early morning without any problems.
This happened basically every single day of the last week: turning on, one crash, flipping the switch, turning back on and it's running fine for as long as I wish.
I really don't know what is causing this problem and I hope somebody could give me a hint.
Cheers.
