ELLO! This is my first post but ive been on toms hardware for quite some time but i have a question. So i just bought my self a USB 3.0 32GB Stick for 10 pounds. I know its kinda cheap and its by a brand called intergral which ive never heard from in my life of computers. But my trouble is i just plugged it into my motherboard's USB 3.0 ports and i started a data transfer of a video of my ingame recording. Now if im correct i believe that a USB 3.0 transfer rate should get around 5GB/s! Now thats why i got USB 3.0 cause i want these videos transferred super fast. The video sizes are around 7GB but my transfer rate is showing 8mb/s....... WHAT THE HECK IS THAT?!?!? I am very angry cause i feel like i just bought a piece of junk with false advertising on it. Now i believe that all of my drivers ARE UP TO DATE. But i cant be bothered to go through every single USB connection driver there is as i feel like there is 20-30 of them for some strange reason. The only one i did check for updates is the one that actually said USB 3.0 (microsoft) etc etc. The format is NTFS because FAT32 or was it FAT23( i dunno you guys i hope understand) does not transfer more than 4GB i heard and my videos arent 4GB they are higher. So is there a solution? Can i fix this? Is it because its a video and videos are really messy with transferring videos?
My HDD is a: Western Digital Blue WD10EZEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5-Inch Internal Hard Drive

I have an MSI 970 Gaming Motherboard

and 8GB of RAM.

That should be enough for a fast transfer rate! Please help! :/

The top speed of USB 3.0 is on paper is 625 megabytes/sec(It is 5 gigabit /sec not gigabyte). Very few systems will have a fast enough storage system to keep up with that.

Most hard drives would fall in the 100-200 megabyte range(slower at the end or with lots of small files.).

You have run into an issue with buying flash drives. some are just not that fast. The read speed on most flash drives is faster than the write speed so it make copy the file in the other direction at a faster speed.

Many early 3.0 drives are not any faster than a normal USB 2.0 drive.

Some drive makers will also list the speed on a drive like this

Again please note that for maximum transfer speed you need to use large files since small files are...

Ok... so i sold the cruddy USB back. I got a sandisk Ultra USB 3.0 32GB instead and it was cheaper BUT A LOT BETTER. I was getting over the advertised up to read speed i got around 145mb/s and i got around a 45 mb/s write speed. So something was wrong with that other USB.... i knew it wasnt my computer i was fairly certain. No more 8mb/s write speed for me :D!!!
