So I seem to have encountered the classic problem with the USB 3.0 missing drivers messing up my Windows 7 installation on a brand new build.

I attempted to add the appropriate USB 3.0 drivers to boot.wim using the command prompt, but it doesn't seem to recognize the dism command on XP. Does anyone know a workaround or an alternative? Thanks.

Sure do have USB 2.0 ports, that was the first thing I tried.

Problem eventually solved by adding the appropriate USB drivers to the boot.wim and install.wim files on the bootable USB stick using an ancient netbook running Windows 7 starter.
