Hi all, so my previous build was working great up until last week then out of know where I get multiple bsod which stopped Windows from booting tried everything memtest chkdsk etc then all of a sudden it started working!? I was in the midst of buying upgrades, I have now installed new upgrades, Windows 10 (bought) new ssd, new hdd, new graphics card. All worked amazingly for a few days then boom more bsod again get multiple and constant now, I can't boot from disc, I can't get in safe mode (I have once but can't anymore) because bsod comes up every time, I installed drivers for new webcam literally an hour before so thought that might be it once I managed to luckily get in safe mode I uninstalled it, noticed that my graphics card had a yellow symbol in the device manager however I installed the driver on the day I bought the whole lot. I can't do anything to repair Windows or uninstall the GPs driver (if that is the issue). I don't understand how all of a sudden it's all gone to crap again. Do I need to replace ram or what? Some of the codes I get are,

Most common 0xc000021a
Memory management
Page fault in non paged area
Dpc watchdog violation
Critical structure corruption error
Driver less than or not equal
Oral less than or not equal

The first one is literally every time now. I'm so frustrated spent a load on upgrades for more bsod. Someone please help!

Thanks,

Dan.

If it's working good with one stick of RAM then it's definitely the other RAM stick or the other RAM slot on the motherboard that's the problem.

From the sounds of things you tried stick 2 in RAM slot one on your motherboard and it was still unstable... If so then I'm pretty sure you have a bad stick of RAM.

You can pretty much drop in any compatible RAM you want. There are some benefits to having...

Hi Dan, most likely the one of the three following components are failing:

-Motherboard
Check for swollen (bulging) or leaking capacitors on the motherboard. If you have any then I'm pretty sure this is the cause. Note do not touch any of the leaked material as it is toxic.

-RAM
Try booting with just one RAM stick at a time, and see if the problem goes away.

Power Supply
Unfortunately you'll need a volt meter or a specialized testing device to properly check the output voltages... But if you have another working computer you could try swapping power supplies and see if the problem moves or goes away.

Always good practice to take the computer down to it's simplest configuration when you run into problem like these. That means disconnecting everything except for mouse, keyboard, power supply, motherboard, ram (one stick please), video card (if onboard video exists, disconnect this one too), and just the boot hard drive.

Good luck!

Hi Peter,

So I've tried the one stick of ram and it seems to be a lot more stable now, there were no signs of leakage on mobo. I can't do any kind of repair, reset or system recovery without some kind of error coming up, with the system recovery it starts but then a Bsod. My kaspersky has suddenly stopped working now too keeps saying errors can't load please reinstall, this must all be linked right? So both single sticks of ram seems to be working fine in the first slot, the first stick wouldn't run a restore or any reset etc but the second has managed to do a system restore......is the first stick bad? Can't be the slot as its working fine with the other right? See what happens in the next few hours.

Edit, right so going through the windows 10 restore and it's stuck on something went wrong unable to setup pin I can't skip or anything only thing would be a hard shut down.

Edit2, so I did a hard reset, went through the setup, I tried to put the other stick in the second slot and bsod bsod bsod lol. So is it the second slot you think? Hope not because that would leave me with just one 4gb stick unable to use dual channel :-(.

right so my system seems to be ok now with just the single stick, did a reset windows and everything seems stable. is it the mobo slot or the stick itself? based from what i said above too in edit 2.

if it's the stick of ram, do i need to buy another pair or can i get away with buying a 4gb to pair with my existing (working) one?

You can pretty much drop in any compatible RAM you want. There are some benefits to having them matched... ie easier overclocking, better performance, double channel memory bus.. etc... But in my experience the average user wont notice a difference.
