Hey

I did a fresh install of windows 7 HomePrem and before any updates were applied, i could extend across two monitors, the main monitor via DVI-D and the secondary monitor via VGA.

After running the plethora of windows updates and AMD graphics driver updates, the second monitor is no longer being picked up by windows, however it is still fully functioning as i can exted from my laptop via the same VGA cable.

Ive tried rolling back the drivers but still nothing!

Im using AMD A6-8470D!

Can anyone shed any light?

thanks in advance

adam

Stupid question first: does Windows see the second display at all? Open the screen resolution, hit "Detect" does it even show an option to extend or duplicate displays? You've probably already done that, but I'm just checking.

Next, when you update your AMD drivers, are you doing a clean install? Go into your program manager, remove the AMD Install Manager, and tell it to remove everything. Reboot then reinstall the latest driver again. After the install, go into Catalyst and check to make sure it's enabling both video outputs.

All else fails, go into your BIOS and check that the multi-monitor iGPU option is enabled. If you've done it before, I don't know why it would suddenly be disabled, but you never know.
