Graphics card needed to run Solid Works on a Dell 3647

Solid Works recommends using a graphics card (just about any ). I've got a Dell 3647 i3 PC with 8Gb ram. I'm not going to be running games, just simple 3D models of parts I design or train on. Anyone have a recommendation?

Any graphics card with 512mb ram or more should do fine. You could find some on newegg for like $30-40 with 1 gb vram.

Is this used for work or just to play around with? You need to make sure you don't need a certified system for your end results. If you need to run it on a certified system, you would need to get a pro level card like a Quadro or FireGL. Older ones or lower end ones should be fine.

Thanks for the replies meat_loaf and hang-the-9! I'm trying to do some training on Solid Works 2015 at home for my job. I won't be doing any "work " with it. What I'd like to do is download a student version of Solid works and just run the tutorials and some simple 3D parts while being able to actually run them instead of just viewing them. The reply from meat_loaf seems to indicate that it will.
When I got my Dell 3647 I had no intentions of running any CAD software. Otherwise I would have got a machine with more room and a bigger PS.
I was also wondering if the original integrated Intel HD graphics card would be able to
handle simple 2D drawing and 3D parts.

To certain extent, the intel onboard will handle 2d graphics. However, it lacks the necessary processing power to render 3d models and objects. It definitely is better to use a dedicated card to do that since it will have more computation power, and advanced shaders, etc..
