I have just bought a gaming pc with 120 SSD and 1TB HDD.
When installing big files (game files) i noticed that the pc is using the SSD for booting and storage until i run out of storage, while the HDD is currently not being used.

I plan on making my SSD as the boot drive and HDD as storage and I already found a tutorial on how to do this but my question is....
-How do i move the files that already stored in my SSD into my HDD? I already have a bunch of game and program files there and if i were to make my HDD as storage and leave the rest of the game files in SSD, would it cause any issues?

This is the tutorial i found:

Hey there, Jackester!

Well, I believe that these tutorials about changing the default path and location for storage might shed some light on how to do it:
Win 7 & 8: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/faq/id-1834397/ssd-redirecting-static-files.html
Win 8.1 & 10: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/faq/id-2024314/redirect-folders-drives-windows-windows.html

If you feel like re-installing and starting anew, you can relocate the user profiles to the HDD before they are even created.
Here's a detailed tutorial from MS about that as well: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/4275-user-profiles-relocate-another-partition-disk.html

Make sure you have a backup of your data beforehand, though!

Keep us posted if you have more questions! :)

Whenever you install an applications, it will typically ask you where to install it, just change it to direct it to the HDD. With other applications, you have to change it to the HDD within the settings if provided. With Steam, you have to add another Steam library onto the HDD via the settings before you can install it on the HDD. There will be some programs that won't offer a choice.

With Steam, you can simply just move the whole Steam directory to the HDD and it will run fine.
With others applications, it is very likely you have to uninstall and reinstall them to the HDD again.

Thank you for the help, i have already changed the default path and location for storage.
However the only thing that is bothering me now are the files for the softwares/programs that are already installed.

- How do i move the files from C: to E:, C drive being my SSD while E drive is my HDD?.
- If i managed to move the files, how do i set the directory on the software? eg. McAfee, Photoshop
- Also, can i move the folders "NVIDIA, Perflogs and Windows" or will it cause issues?

Hey there again, Jackester!

I'm afraid that you can't just copy and paste these. The best thing to do is to uninstall them and then re-install them onto the HDD.
Otherwise, you'd most probably encounter issues with the software programs themselves.
Re-installing the software and utilities is the best way to do this IMHO.

Good luck!
