Windows 8.1 changing update settings, middle mouse click no longer working, and mouse keys always on.

Quite some time ago, I tried using the numpad mouse keys. It didn't work too well for what I was trying to accomplish, so I turned them off again. Ever since then, they've always turned themselves back on again every time I shut off my computer (every night). So whenever I want to use the numpad, I have to go into settings and turn mouse keys off again.

Then, the other night, when I went to turn my computer off, the only option was to update and shut down, despite having set windows to "check for updates but let me choose whether to download or install them". I turned it off at the wall instead, but the next day it updated itself upon being turned on. The update setting had changed to "install updates automatically". Ever since then, middle mouse click hasn't worked, in any application (but scroll still works).

Why can't I turn off Mouse Keys, why did Windows change its update settings, and why can't I middle click?

Possibly useful info: I built my PC at the beginning of the year, and use the CM Storm devastator Keyboard and mouse. I only have windows defender but I use DNS and have multiple applications and extensions to block advertisers, trackers, and malware. I don't think my issue would be malware, as that would more likely turn windows update off.
