I bought a Gtx 660 for $40 from a friend from school. I want to use it on my second PC to play some light games, mostly TF2 and some other light games. The problem is the PC is from 2012, and has an amd athlon X2 250, which has a AM3 socket. Obviously, it will bottleneck.

I was wonder the best processor for the socket so it won't bottleneck. Since the AM3 socket is quite old, I'll probably have to buy it off ebay, but I feel fine purchasing used hardware.

Solution
The best info I could find is from the dell forums.
The motherboard supports 95w processors up to and including the Phenom2 965 (95 watt version).
Phenom 2 X2, X3 and X4 models with a TDP of 95 watts.
Some people have installed X4 965 125 watt versions with success but not officially supported. If you go this route it is at your own risk, not mine or Toms Hardware's liability.
It really depends on what your motherboard supports.
Post back what motherboard you have and then we can let you know what the best processor for it is.
It all comes down to the motherboard bios support. Some AM3 boards got an updated bios for newer AM3 CPUs and some did not.

Which means you may need to update the bios for the CPUs that came out after the motherboard was made.
