Is this a good build for 1080p gaming?

Solution
Cooling solution from XFX is not good. Stay safe and buy a sapphire or msi card. They have much better temps and are not loud.
And i currently own a i5 4460 with a stock cooler and temps never go above 75c in stress testing. while gaming it stays at around 60-65c. So no need for a hyper 212 evo. The stock cooler will do perfectly fine

Why skylake? Won't the 4460 be okay? I could do the 4460 and the 290

The second build is pretty good but I think you'll need at least a 8gb graphics card so I think the first ones better, that's what I'm getting when I'm building my custom pc. I also think you should get at least a 700W-750W power supply.

Haswell is outdated now, Skylake is for DDR4 support and future upgradability

Admirable
I have to agree with TheDankMemer I have a skylake I5-6600k and a R9 290x and its runs any game I have ever played at ultra setting that's without an OC when I tested. but if you have to go with 1 of the 2 builds you previded the 2nd one Is far better and you don't need an 8GB GPU but you will need a slightly higher W on your PSU just to be safe even if not overclocking.
