so i have an evga gtx 970 and a i7 2600 @3.4ghz, whenever im playing games like arkham city, metroLL, nfs most wanted (2012) or even counterstrike source my gpu usage never sticks to a certain number. it just spikes everywhere thus giving me unplayable frame rates. the only games it seems to work properly with are battlefield hardline and gta v.

i've installed a clean version of windows 7 and used the latest nvidia drivers plus the 3 previous drivers. its getting enough power as i have an ocz 1250w psu. its in its pci slot correctly and both 6pin power connectors are firmly in place. temperatures are fine and i have not overclocked nor am i planning to.

really annoying so please help!

What do you mean by 'spikes' ? Your description is a bit vague. It may also be due to the fact how games use the gpu, not the gpu's fault by itself. Certain dips in fps are perfectly normal with demanding games even on a 980ti due to lack of optimization.

That psu is way overkill btw unless you have r2d2 hooked up to it.

planning on getting another 970 which is why i have that psu and spikes on msi afterburner gpu usage. framerates go down as far as 7 and go up as far as 55, and every few minutes the framerate says at 60fp for about 20secs then goaes back down. and i'm pretty sure its not how the games use the gpu as this only started 3 days ago.

i would upload a picture but i have no idea how to
