Hello everyone, I'm a long time reader, first time writer to this forum. I recently purchased an XFX r9 270x graphics card mostly for gaming and some occasional bitcoin mining just for fun. I use bitminter bitcoin client. Now my question/problem is, Ive never had a problem with high temps when i used bitminter with an hd 7750, But now soon as i turn on the bitminter client, my gpu shoot up to past 90c till the computer shuts off. I have tried down clocking but that hasnt worked. My next idea was to replace the thermal compound in the gpu. If you have any suggestions or know what might be causing these problems, please let me know. Thank you!

xfx cooling solution is not that good. Since you can do much about the cooler from xfx...

take in consideration that the r9 270x is a hot gpu and reaches over 80 degrees celsius while gaming on a test bench so if your case lacks ventilation, or is close to the wall those temps are more than normal.

xfx cooling solution is not that good. Since you can do much about the cooler from xfx make sure your case is well ventilated and add a fan at the side of your gpu if possible. Make sure your graphics card fans run at full speed during load. I own a r9 270x from sapphire and it never had any sort of heating issues, temps on load always stay below 75c and avg about 65-70c
