GPU Drivers causing blue screen, only with a specific GPU?

Hows it going,

Was using the PC playing a game (Ill call this PC-1, GTX580), out of nowhere it blue screened and wouldnt turn back on without blue screening on boot. It works in safe mode and if i uninstall the GPU drivers.

I tried clean installing windows and trying the gpu drivers that came with the GPU, it still blue screened. I tried clean install windows and the newest GPU drivers- it still blue screened.

I have another PC with a GTX670 (Ill call this PC- 2). I tried swapping GPUs between them so now PC 1 has the 670 and PC 2 has the 580. PC 1 (which initially had the issues) is now working all good with the 670 and GPU drivers installed etc, showing that theres nothing wrong with its motherboard.

Now PC 2, which previously ran all good with the 670, is now blue screening with the 580 when fresh drivers are installed.

Obviously this suggests a problem with the GTX 580 as it occurs when installed in both PCs- but how can i fix it? It works fine in low res mode/ without drivers installed, then blue screens when I install any nvidia drivers.
Any help, cheers.
PS- i also tried updated the PC- 1 motherboard BIOS.
Specs PC1- 2500k, p8p67 pro, 8 gb ram.
Specs PC2- 3570k, z77 mobo, 8gn ram.

It sound like your GPU has died. There could be a problem with part of the chip or with the memory. These aren't being used (fully used) when the driver is not installed, but as soon as you install the driver and it tries to access the faulty hardware it causes a bluescreen.

You might be able to fix a broken solder joint by reflowing the GPU.

Should a GTX580 be breaking merely 4 years after purchase?
