Is the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO worth it?

Hey everyone. I have a very odd question to ask of you guys. Well, the situation is that I currently have the Noctua NH-D14 cooler in my gaming rig. However, I only got that because I thought I'd be doing overclocking and/or CPU heavy stuff, but I actually don't need to overclock because my i5-2500k is already super fast and powerful so I'm looking to get something that's less bulky in my tower. I knew from the start that the NH-D14 was gonna be huge, but if I'm not gonna be overclocking and stuff, then there's no point to use such a powerful cooler. So I'm wondering if getting the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO. What do you think? If you think there's a better option than the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, then I'm all ears! I just don't want to pay like $60+ (Canadian dollars, by the way; so no American links, k?) for a cooler. I just want something that will be good enough for just intensive gaming, downloading, etc etc. I don't even do any editing or video rendering, whatsoever. If I had my time back, and knew I wasn't gonna be doing overclocking and/or heavy CPU tasks, then I wouldn't have bought the NH-D14. So I'm open to all suggestions and they're all greatly appreciated! Thanks very much in advance! :)

I check it out and it's not on Newegg, and I only trust Newegg. =/ It's not even found using Shopbot Canada so I guess that cooler is out of the question lol! Any other suggestions? All I need it for is to cool nicely for my intensive gaming and normal activities. With the NH-D14, my temps are in the 40 degree Celsius range. What do you think of this one? http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118003

Between the Zalman and EVO I would get the 212 EVO.

The Zalman is a fair-ish heatsink. It doesn't lead any margins in price/ performance, but if you like it and it is available it will be able to cool your CPU without any issue, especially if you aren't overclocking.

I have no doubt BB will be able to find a better one for you though ;)

I just need a definite answer on a cooler, please. I don't want to get something if it's no good, you know? Like I said in my initial post, if i had my time back I wouldn't have gotten the NH-D14. =/ It's too much for what I do lol I frickin' love my i5-2500k! xD It's such an amazingly powerful CPU. I hear it's still one of the most popular CPUs out there. It's like over $500 (Canadian dollars) online, but that's only because it's rare to find, in my opinion. :)

I actually have zero issues with playing any games at high settings, even PS2 and GameCube (which are said to be heavy on the CPU) and I don't even OC so I think it's still a powerful CPU. :) I don't need to upgrade whatsoever. If I did that, I'd have to spend maybe over $300 for a new mobo and a cpu.

Not true I still use my 2500K and upgrading to a 6600K would get me about 0 FPS.
I think you need to do some research before you make statements like that.

That's a very nice cooler, and it's even the same brand name of my case, but that's a little expensive. =/ It's $76.82 with shipping & tax. So maybe I should go with the Cooler Master 212 EVO? That's more in my price range. And like I said, I don't do any OC.

I get what you're saying, but the cooler you suggest, in my opinion for the things I do daily, is overkill. I don't do OC or any intensive stuff like video rendering and such.

Yes! :) Thank you for the suggestion! I believe you just made my decision making easier! Like I said, the NH-D14 is too bulky so I can't really see much of my gorgeous mobo. ;) Plus it's rather overkill for my daily tasks. lol! If I had my time back I wouldn't have gotten it, but I thought I'd be doing overclocking and such.

That's because you are comparing OC vs Stock. But go stock vs stock or OC vs OC and you will see improvement.
Of course depending of game.
Not to mention possible GPU bottleneck. (which you don't have due to SLI, of course)

Even at stock speeds my CPU has ZERO issues at ultra high settings with gaming.
