I have just recently staring to build a desktop out of a laptop so i found a old hard drive to use. When plunging it in it worked so I was going to install freenas and the installer have detected the drive normally and supposedly installed correctly. When launching from the hard drive there isn't a boot device so I was just going to install Windows Server 2012 when installing it did not detect the drive and when i did the same with Windows 7 it did not detect. But now launching the hard drive gives me this weird text and just continues beeping sound when launching from my other laptop that I use for school.

I have also run a SMART quick test on the hard drive and it apparently passed.

Is there anything that I can do to fix this hard drive?

Solution

Download a free disk/partition manager like EASEUS. Remove all partitions and reformat the drive as NTFS.
