Hello all,

I'm in the process of gathering parts for my dream PC, I have knowledge in everything i need apart from motherboards. I just don't understand what I need in them and what their differences are! If somebody could break me down on that it'd be appreciated.

Also this is my main current parts for my setup, so which motherboard would be best suited?;
MSI GTX 970 4g

Intel i5 4690K 3.5ghz quad

I'll be having 8GB of ram and a 6/700W psu

Theres so many Z97 mobos at different prices! It's so hard to decide, like which has all the needed features at the best price? I don't want one where i'll be restricted doing things on.

Thank you for the reply.

clearly you're considering overclocking, so read reviews to find out which has the nicest or best overclocking features in its BIOS, and which has easy BIOS recovery / reflashing features. my guess is that an Asus board would win in these departments (though i don't OC and i use Gigabyte & ASRock boards)

Some boards feature connections such as M.2, WIFI, Intel Lan, USB 3.1, eSATA, etc... All these are extras on more expensive boards. Some boards have shielded and better onboard audio with a headphone amplifier. These are usually featured on higher end boards with more advanced cooling.

There are also more advanced software on these boards for stuff like LAN tweaking, audio, and overclocking from within Windows.

Some chipsets support dual and quad video cards while others only 1. You really gotta check the manufacturer websites and start comparing specs to see which board you really need.
